At Fyns Karosseribyg (FKB) in Odense, they build trucks and tailor everything behind the cab, such as open bodies, fiberglass and distribution boxes, freight bodies, lifts and cranes. In connection with these structures, FKB needed help with optimizing their unfolding and production drawings.
In the beginning, help was only needed for ad-hoc tasks, where one of our consultants with construction experience solved these remotely. However, this developed into FKB needing a full-time resource who could help solve their increasing drawing and documentation needs on site in Odense. At Tech-Huset we stepped in with a consultant who was a complete plug-and-play solution with a computer containing access to all the drawing programs needed for this task. Within 3 days, our consultant already had the first drawing ready.
One of the tasks that had to be solved was jaw reinforcement for a crane with extra side plates, which are welded on. In this case, our consultant began with a layout in AutoCAD 2D, after which this was converted in 3D Inventor to create a more detailed unfolding and production drawing, of which the production team will follow during construction. By updating the excisting drawing from a layout in 2D to 3D, the drawings become more precise. When you need to drill many holes and build on to an existing side plate, the extra dimension that the 3D drawings provide is essential.
